Our Story

It started in our own care home kitchens. Every day, our chefs prepared meals from scratch — soups simmering on the stove, bread warm from the oven, roasts carved fresh before serving.

But we saw a challenge:
- Recruiting and retaining chefs in every home was becoming harder.
- Menu consistency across multiple sites was difficult to achieve.
- Kitchen refurbishments meant some homes needed temporary catering support.

So we built AbleCare Kitchens — a modern, fully equipped central production unit, run to the same high standards we expect in our homes. It means:
- Every dish is chef-prepared in one place.
- Meals are delivered chilled for freshness and flexibility.
- Quality is consistent, whether for one week or every day of the year.

Family Oversight, Personal Care

We’re a family-run business — the Hawker family live locally and are directly involved in the day-to-day running of both AbleCare Homes and AbleCare Kitchens.

That means we:
- Personally taste-test menus before they go out.
- Keep our service hands-on and responsive.
- Know that food in a care setting isn’t just fuel — it’s comfort, dignity, and often the highlight of someone’s day.
